MOVIE: “Sustainability and Food-Choice”
The Lecture in the movie is by one of the one of the world’s foremost experts in Sustainability: Dr. Richard Oppenlander.
Dr. Oppenlander works not at the UH level but at the National and International level on the subject. For example, he was was asked to testify on the subject in front of the EU European Parliament. And he has consulted with major Universities, Schools, and Institutions, on Sustainability Policy at the National Level all across the United States. For example working with Villanova University including Villanova Campus Dining Services, Emory University, and the entire UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA campus-wide system of 10 state-wide locations. Dr. Oppenlander has over 40+ years experience in the subject and has given hundreds of lectures and presentations on the topic of Sustainability. His work has been endorsed by Dr. Jane Goodall, among others. Dr. Oppenlander was also called upon to present information on Sustainability at the Hawaii State Capitol here in Hawaii and was presented with a plaque in honor of his contributions to Sustainability. He served as the lead consultant for two full-length films on Sustainability and the Environment.
It will cover the issues of Sustainability, Food Choice, and a multi-factoral approach to achieving sustainability.
Talk: Panel Experts Victoria Anderson, Jake Garvin. Jake is a Scientist and an expert in Sustainability and Nutrition. He has an Ivy League scientific degree from CORNELL UNIVERSITY in Bio-Psychology--the Biology & Chemistry of the Human Brain. He has a MENSA level IQ (IQ in the top 2 percent of the population). He is a Scientist and does research in Sustainability and has worked at the Cornell DEPARTMENT OF NUTRITION. He is the co-author of a scientific study published in a peer-reviewed journal which is now being cited by others in Cancer Research. He is one of the top authorities on Nutrition as well as an expert in the area of scientific research in Sustainability.
Victoria has expertise on a variety of subjects, including Sustainability, Diet, and also Linguistics. She is a Faculty Member at UH. She has a PhD from UCLA, and works in the UH Department of Lingustics. She has been a consultant for Intuit as well as Apple Computer (in fact, the Linguistic Text-to-Speech digital voices “Victoria” and “Vicki” that ship with Macintosh computers are based on HER voice.) Her work in languages involves research from a broad International and Global perspective, but also involves local, cultural, ethnic, and native perspectives as well.
